Hymenoptera mimic - Hoplitimyia constans - female

Hymenoptera mimic - Hoplitimyia constans - Female
CCI Pollinator Garden, Olathe, Johnson County, Kansas, USA
August 25, 2013
This is a mediocre photo at best. But I'm trying to document all the pollinators that came to this pollinator garden this summer on the site of a former hazardous waste site. Chip Taylor with Monarch Watch was instrumental in the design of the garden. I was just about to post it under hymenoptera, then realized the wings and the mouth part...great mimic!
