Colorful Wasp - Enicospilus purgatus

Colorful Wasp - Enicospilus purgatus
Near Ruraldale, Upshur County, West Virginia, USA
September 17, 2006
Yes, a dark spot on each wing. Here is a detailed view of the right wing. Actually, make that two dark spots. One seems a little lighter than the other on both wings.

Thanks for your help with this one, Hartmut!

Enicospilus indeed -
Thanks for posting the wing image, Stephen. There should be two spots on each wing, which can be seen, connected by a veinlet. I think I can also see the spurious vein parallel to the wing margin. Also, the discosubmarginal cell clearly extends beyond vein 2m-cu.
I'm moving this to the genus page.
By the way, there are some Enicospilus without the spots, but still the same venation. I found one of those on my porch, went through the key, but wasn't certain until it had been confirmed by its author (Gavin Broad; see reference on Info page).

Thanks
Thanks very much, wonderful to get it to genus!
