Cicada on giant ragweed - Neotibicen auriferus

Cicada on giant ragweed - Neotibicen auriferus
Between Clearwater and Haysville, Sedgwick County, Kansas, USA
August 26, 2008
I'm not sure if this is a newly emerged individual or simply very light colored. Our property contains pasture and grasslands with native prairie vegetation, as well as the standard mix of typical south Kansas countryside plants and some woody vegetation near where this individual was photographed.
