T. dorsatus is one of the most beautiful Tibicen species of US! Unfortunately, with the decline of the prairie, is the decline of this beautiful cicada. It occurs in large numbers in Kansas where large, established populations still remain. T. dorsatus sings from low grasses and shrubs in prairie remnants and grasslands.
