Also, how does one tend to distinguish P. mexicana in images from superficially similar flies like E. stipator? I note the superficially more impressed scutal sutures and faint central scutal vittae of P. mexicana.

Rescaled fonts are hard to read. This might be better as multiple plates, or generated at 560x560 pixels originally.

I picked the font too small, but when you click on the imagine, it pops up bigger...

Font scaling isn't just a matter of size. It's better to generate a pixel-based font at the intended viewing resolution. Algorithms that do a good job scaling photographs may not do a good job scaling text.
