Unknown Lepidopteran Larva - Dargida

Unknown Lepidopteran Larva - Dargida
high-quality remnant prairie south-east of Osawatomie, Miami County, Kansas, USA
September 29, 2013
Size: 1.25-1.75"
A handful of these larvae were found while collecting the seed heads of Big and Little Bluestem (Andropogon gerardii and Andropogon scoparium, respectively). There was an attempt to collect and rear some of these but we may have to wait until late in the 2014 season to find out if we were successful.
