Moved from Syrphid Flies.

These two genera can be difficult to tell apart; hopefully someone will take the plunge! Moving them out of Syrphidae to clarify the ID situation.

This is Platycheirus.
Melanostoma has the orange markings on tergite 3 and 4, reaching sides of tergite as a narrowing wing. Not at all quadrate.This Patycheirus.
