J.C. Ciegler says, "I'd call it Capraita obsidiana (Fab.).
"It's not exactly typical, but that name fits it best."

So, it is probably one of the subspecies of obisidiana?

 
do they have subspecies?
would be a surprise, frankly; i wouldn't expect a winged alticine to have subspecies... could you refer me to any sources?

My mistake. On the species info page it says that there are 16 species n. of Mexico so I thought that was referring to subspecies of this species. Thanks for all your help!
