These ants were on in a burned area that had consisted non-native grasses and some recovering coastal sage scrub at the Claremont Colleges' Bernard Field Station. Any information about their identity will be greatly appreciated!

Several different individuals are shown in the photos, as it seems that photos of ants in the same colony are linked in BugGuide. Please let me know if I should unlink them.

Most likely Pogonomyrmex californicus but without a lateral view it is difficult to be sure.
