This individual was on spiderwort, Tradescantia sp., but we found them on several other species of plants.

Lepyronia gibbosa
These feed on many plants, including grasses!

In our fauna there are only two spittlebugs with black-striped nymphs, the other being the introduced L. coleoptrata, found only in the east (PA-NH).
