Disonycha tenuicornis
Disonycha tenuicornis
Det. E. G. Riley, 2022

Note: that when alive, tenuicornis is yellowish, not the blood reddish color of some other vittate Disonycha.

All the current Bugguide images of D. tenuicornis are not tenuicornis. I am not entirely sure what they are, but they could be dark forms of figurata or possibly something else (to my knowledge, I have not seen figurata alive).

Shawn Clark
pointed that out to me, too. He made a suggestion what the others would be - I'll check and add that to our bugguide ids

Moved from Disonycha.

Have keyed it, and first came out with D. tenuicornis - in which the antennae are longer than in most, but shorter than in this Disonycha.

Mystery solved in text of Smith (1934) revision - this is the dark-vittae variety.

A new species for the guide.
Thanks Boris!
