Southern Yellowjacket - Vespula squamosa - male

Southern Yellowjacket - Vespula squamosa - Male
Camp Creek Run, Marlton, Burlington County, New Jersey, USA
October 16, 2013
Size: Maybe around 15 mm?
I think that this is a Vespula squamosa (Southern Yellowjacket) male, but wanted to check the ID, and I'm really not sure I got the gender correct (longer abdomen = male?).
