Looking at the paper BugGuide
Looking at the paper BugGuide handily provides ("Review of New World Sericomyia (Diptera: Syrphidae), including description of a new species")... it keys out to Sericomyia chalcopyga. Without the genitalia, it's a bit tricky to tell from S. chrysotoxoides, though the latter seems mostly confined to the eastern US; chalcopyga is expected to be in Seattle.
So I'd personally be comfortable saying Sericomyia chalcopyga, but an expert opinion on the species ID would be welcome!
(and thanks for the genus - without that it would have been a nonstarter!)

Based on the commentary here
Based on the commentary
here on the abdominal markings and ranges
, I'm comfortable calling this as chalcopyga without a second opinion, so moved.
