I think they probably are Chlosyne lacinia
based both on date and appearance. However, I'm not sure if we can rule out Chlosyne gorgone, which uses the same plants, looks almost identical (as larvae), but which is not as likely to be found at this stage so late in the year. Also, I think C. gorgone larvae at this stage would probably show a little more light coloring.

Moved from Butterflies (excluding skippers).

Bordered Patch !
Thankyou David !

I have both here but I am inclined from appearance to go with the lacinia .

They are munching away happily but with some hard freezes coming this week... they need to get a move on !

Thankyou again...

Thankyou John and Jane.....

I have had quite a few Bordered Patches here.. so its very likely !

Thankyou !

I can't tell, but maybe this helps:

Passionvine is the host plant, so I'd guess you have something else.

Thanks Ron... I saw that pic
Thanks Ron... I saw that pic on here.

This is definitely the little wild false sunflowers.. they have been feeding a zillion butterflies all Summer ,including the Monarchs when they came through.

These look like a miniature version of the larger (most definitely)GF pillies that were around earlier.

Thanks .. and I will see if anyone else can offer a name .
