I found several of these beetles (with minimal searching) at the high tide mark, under small clumps of seaweed. I believe that this is the southernmost specimen on the guide so far. It is quite light in coloration, as the north-south trend would predict (more northerly beaches having more volcanic dark sand). This area of beach is about a half hour's walk north from the northern end of Imperial Beach.
