Specific name for the holotype collection site of Louisiana.
Size
Forbes (1922) listed a wingspan of 18 mm.
Wingspan averages 20-27 mm.

Forewing variably off-white, cream-colored, pale brown or grayish-yellow, with scattered dark scales; two widely-separated discal dots; PM line a faint diagonal arc; subterminal line faint, pale; terminal line a series of dark dashes; hindwing dirty white with faint darker subterminal line.
Range
Quebec and Maine to Florida
(2), west to Texas, north to Alberta.
Holotype from Sabine River Ferry, Louisiana in June, 1917.
Habitat
Wet meadows, fens, wetland edges; adults are nocturnal and come to light.
Season
The adults fly from June to September in the north; as early as February in the south.
