Big Bug - Meloe campanicollis - female

Big Bug - Meloe campanicollis - Female
Evansburg, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA
November 5, 2013
Size: ~2.5 cm
While in an old graveyard (looking for grave stones for genealogical purposes) my daughter spotted this critter in the grass walking towards a grave marker. This 'big beetle' crawled at a steady pace and when threatened stopped in its tracks not moving for several moments before resuming its trek.
