Fearsome looking
wasp-like fly. This is a Saropogon. Close to the Diogmites genus that are bugguide favorites. A genus that is concentrated in the west and SW. Possibly it is a female S. dispar. That species having some strong sexual dimorphism. There are several Texas species never photographed however.
