Thanks Mike..

possibly Scymnus (Pullus) abbreviatus
The size is a little too large - S. abbreviatus is almost never over 2mm in length - but the habitus is an excellent match, and its range extends to southeastern Canada. (The mapped ranges in my key, which are about 20 years old, don't show it as far north as New Brunswick, but data points for many coccinellid species on BugGuide show them extending ranges northward, and it wouldn't surprise me if S. abbreviatus was one of them.)

There are a few other species I haven't ruled out yet (nothing matching as closely as S. abbreviatus), I'll go over the detailed habitus descriptions of all of them and try to get this to species or species group.

S. impexus and S. iowensis ar
S. impexus and S. iowensis are present in New-Brunswick..

also considering those
I've got a short list of species to check more closely. I definitely want to read up on the habitus descriptions of all the species, because prominent external features aren't always mentioned in keys that concentrate on the much more diagnostic male genitalia. (Unfortunately the full monograph on Scymnini isn't at hand right now.)
