Can this fly be identified down to species and sexed ? Thanks in advance for the help.

Apparently can't be sexed from this photo.
The BG Info page states: "In this genus, eyes of males do not touch (like those of all syrphid females) and abdominal details are necessary to tell male from female."

Well from the coloration and the shape of the abdomen, I am pretty sure that this is a male... it is difficult to put in words, but at one point I will try and make a key (hopefully) how to distinguish and sex the Helophilini...
