Charleston, Charleston County, South Carolina, USA
September 25, 2013
A few months back, I first discovered this cocoon in my garden, which I have since learned was a Tersa Sphinx (Pupa)! Well, it finally hatched, so now I have both some before and after photos! How exciting!! :)

well
its a Tersa sphinx pupa, and if you want to you can place it in a large container, like 6x6 in a shaded unheated area for the winter just to protect it from predators like beetles etc..on a piece of tp or something, and with a stick in there. (leaned against the side.so it can hang to inflate its wings..start checking it, early when the weather starts to warm up, but keep out of the sun and where the temp is like outside..click on this link and on images to see the moth and the caterpillar..info to learn more about it...
moths are addictive....:-)

Re:
Thank you so much @shotguneddie!! So, guess what happened? I decided to relocate it to a warmer spot, and I had no idea it would hatch overnight!! Amazing!! I'll have to post a few updated photos! :)
