Witchhazel Gall

Witchhazel Gall
Beavercreek, Greene County, Ohio, USA
November 10, 2013
Is this gall formed by Hamamelistes spinosus (Spiny Witchhazel Gall Aphid)? Found on (presumed) Hamamelis virginiana (Common Witchhazel; "presumed" because the original plant purchased was a cultivar of Hamamelis mollis, Chinese Witchhazel, but it has been largely taken over by growth from below the graft union, though there are still some branches that flower in March; the branch this gall is on is flowering now in November).
