Asilid - Machimus antimachus - male

Asilid - Machimus antimachus - Male
buffalo national river, newton County, Arkansas, USA
July 28, 2006
Size: ~20mm

Moved
Moved from Asilinae.

Robber
Norm thinks all these orange-legged Machimoids at the end of summer are Neomochtherus, a closely related genus to the Machimus. Not sure this isn't an M. antimachus now that I look back on it. Seems a bit too orangey and brown though.
