Spittlebugs mating - Aphrophora quadrinotata - Male Female
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
July 25, 2006
Size: about 1/2 cm
I was wondering if anyone could help me ID these guys. :)

Aphrophora quadrinotata
The pits all over the wings and body are distinctive for this genus.

Spittlebugs
Oops. That sure explains why I couldn't find anything comparable in the leaf hopper section... Thank you both so much. I think Aphrophora quadrinotata is a perfect match. :)

Adult Spittlebugs.
These are adult spittlebugs, family Cercopidae, not leafhoppers.
