Tiger Moth? - Lophocampa roseata

Tiger Moth? - Lophocampa roseata
Snohomish, Snohomish County, Washington, USA
October 5, 2013
Found on a sidewalk next to a greenbelt and directly beneath a Douglas fir.

Looks like these two unidentified caterpillars uploaded by separate users, also found in Washington:

We've been trying to track down an image
of the caterpillar of Lophocampa roseata without any success. Someone must know what it looks like, but we can't seem to track down an image. Maybe you can contact some folks in the Pacific Northwest and see if anyone knows what it looks like?

Hi there,
I took your suggestion and looked at the PNW Moths page for L. roseata, and the caterpillar description seemed possible, but I asked and the one that profile was based off of was a mature larva and didn't look like this one. The range and sightings of this caterpillar seem to match up, though. Another suggestion was that maybe it's an earlier instar of L. argentata, although I've only ever found the caterpillars in June. Thank you for the suggestion, I'll keep searching--this caterpillar doesn't seem to want to be identified!
