Cuterebra fontinella fontinella
Nice series. This is the rodent botfly, Cuterebra fontinella fontinella. It is a specialist fly which uses the white-footed mouse, Peromyscus leucopus, as a host. Great to have so many angles of this fly for ID. The light color hairs and whitish rump combined with the dark back and great face shot are all help in the ID. Thanks for posting. This is a fairly common botfly which can be found all over North America. Adults do not have mouth parts, (so the fly cannot feed as an adult), therefore adults are short lived.
