Identification
Chambers (1877) originally named the species from a mine and not an adult. Braun (1912) describes a summer and winter form of the adult.
Braun (1912) stated the summer form resembles a small specimen of
C. superbifrontella.
Range
Scattered records throughout eastern North America.

The adults appear to be most common from May to October.

The larvae are leaf miners of
Ostrya virginiana (Mill.) K. Koch (hornbeam).
