 Syrphidae ? - Eupeodes

Syrphidae ? - Eupeodes
Barling, Sebastian County, Arkansas, USA
November 11, 2013

Moved from Eupeodes.

Moved from Syrphid Flies.

Eupeodes sp.
Barely visible here, a black border (margin)separates the top of the abdomen from the bottom, so the light stripes don't wrap around. They do on the nearly identical Syrphus.

Similar to both, Epistrophe's light stripes are more of a mottled ivory color.

This one looks cooked and done.
Guides have only 2 species of Eupeodes with images but numerous examples still at Genus level.

Yeah, we've stuck a fork into it.
A lot of syrphids turn out that way, but there's always hope. Copestylum has seen a lot of species IDs over the years.

Moved for expert attention.
Moved from ID Request.
