Hydriomena divisaria? - Hydriomena divisaria

Hydriomena divisaria? - Hydriomena divisaria
Corning, Perry County, Ohio, USA
May 7, 2013
Came to porch light. Rich mesic woods, edge of field. I do have a large white spruce in the yard.

Moved Tentatively
Moved from ID Request.

I am reasonably sure of ID, but to be safe, I have moved tentatively.

Hydriomena divisaria
It wasn't moved so does that mean that it is H. divisaria? I'm not completely sure how the BG system works yet.

You lost me there. I moved your image from ID Request to Hydriomena divisaria, albeit tentatively. There may well be something I'm missing.

While there are a couple Hydriomena moths with similarly shaped PM and apical dashes, they are both from the PNW. Your specimen is a little worn, but I can still see a vague outline of the oddly shaped reniform spot typical for H. divisaria. I don't see how this can be anything else but ...

Hydriomena divisaria
Thank you Robert. And that vague outline of the reniform spot is exactly why my guess for this moth was H. divisaria. I'm slowly learning. Thank you for posting your comment.

Nice Find!
Only the second posted on BG. That's why I wanted to be sure :)
