Either Sympistis aterrima or Sympistis apep. Based on locality most likely S. aterrima.

Sympistis aterrima matches beautifully !
There are records from the Sierras, while this might be the first record for Mono County.

Sympistis apep does look somewhat similar, but it has only been recorded from the Pacific Northwest.
