Tick or Beetle?

Tick or Beetle?
Grafton County, New Hampshire, USA
August 8, 2007
I couldn't find this in either the tick or beetle tabs. Any ideas?

presence of eyes immediately rules out the tick option
Moved from ID Request.

Hopefully helpful hints
Straight line down back = Beetle
X down the back = True bug, adult
Wing stubs = True bug, juvenile
Bare back = Tick

Neither :)
It's the nymph of a Stink Bug.
