Nicely done, CB!
We need more of this.

Thanks, Ron
I got tired of getting these two wrong ... then I saw Maury's comment on one of the Sweetpotato Armyworm moths. While there are other characteristics, that little tear-shaped "sweetpotato" is the clincher. Like the difference between a Clover Hayworm Moth and a Yellow-fringed Dolichomia comes down to one has a yellow outer margin and the other, a purple outer margin

Those clinchers, which I now will call sweet potatoes ...
...are the first step to making strictly visual IDs the order of the day. Tony Thomas - remember him? - had a vision of what he called "Flies through a Lens" extending the Butterflies through Binoculars concept into a larger world. I believe we're moving in that direction here...and hope we continue at an increasing rate. Thanks again!

Yep ...
I remember Tony-2. It's ashamed he left ... seemed quite knowledgeable

Pogue (2002) has good descriptions in PDF

Thanks, Maury
As you know, these two gave me fits for the longest
