I got tired of getting these two wrong ... then I saw Maury's comment on one of the Sweetpotato Armyworm moths. While there are other characteristics, that little tear-shaped "sweetpotato" is the clincher. Like the difference between a Clover Hayworm Moth and a Yellow-fringed Dolichomia comes down to one has a yellow outer margin and the other, a purple outer margin
