Confirm Bombus griseocollis- Calhoun County Fl - Bombus impatiens
Calhoun County, Florida, USA
October 28, 2013
This is Bombus griseocollis I think. My most common Bumblebee. Are these both Queens or can you tell? Additional question: If my image moved into the Guide, where does it say where in the Guide that I can find it so I can view further comments? thanks.

If you click on Your Images at the upper right...
...you can view all your posts. While there's no need to record it, note that your post is numbered at the upper left hand corner of each photo. This makes it easy for you to tell others where your post is, with a clickable link like so:

Here's the format for the link. Note that there are no spaces and that XXXX represents the number of the photo.

Oh, *that's* how you do the thumbnails! I'd been copy-pasting the HTML from the raw page source. Good to know there's a much less kludgy way to do it!

You are really quick and in more ways than one!

That's about the extent of my very shallow knowledge of suchlike.

Hard to say - they look more
Hard to say - they look more like Bombus impatiens to me (since only the first abdominal tergite is yellow), but I can't see the center of the second tergite on the abdomen where griseocollis would have a potential brown center. Do you have any pictures looking straight down at the abdomen of the bee?

I do feel like I'm seeing a lot of yellow on the head of the bigger bee at the bottom of the image, which is more consistent with the males of both impatiens and griseocollis. Queens and workers of griseocollis do sometimes have cloudy (yellowish) heads, so this may point towards griseocollis instead.

In terms of the technical side - if you aren't automatically subscribed to comments from your posts (in which case you get emails), you can click "subscribe" under the image (next to "tag" and "add comment"), and that should let you know when additional comments occur or when the image is moved.

Hope that helps!
