BG Gathering ID Request -- Cosmopterix - Cosmopterix astrapias

BG Gathering ID Request -- Cosmopterix - Cosmopterix astrapias
Florida Station, SRER, Pima County, Arizona, USA
July 28, 2013
I was wondering if this Cosmopterix from the 2013 Bugguide gathering can be ID'd to species from this photo. I was also surprised to see that BG doesn't have any Arizona images of this genus.

Edit: First BG image for this species.

I am not entirely convinced this is C. astrapias
...but I don't have a better suggestion.

Cosmopterix astrapias
Koster (2010) states "the short oblique white line above the dorsal line near the base of the forewing is characteristic."

Nice work John!

Thanks!

Close to Cosmopterix inopis
Very nice! Looks close to the Koster (2010) photo of Cosmopterix inopis but maybe impossible to be certain from photos. Range might be helpful. Will do some more reading.

Thanks, Maury
I didn't realize that the full text of Koster (2010) is available online. Very cool! I tried keying it out myself just now. What would you think about C. astrapias?

astrapias may be a closer match.
I have been looking at moths too long today. Will check this out later.
Thanks
