Big Robber -

Largest robber I think I've seen. Can anyone ID from this somewhat dark image?

You're not mistaken
about the size. This is Promachus giganteus, black, hairy, and huge.

Promachus sp. (truquii perhaps)
This appears to be a Promachus female. It seems Arizona has a lot of Promachus diversity, however. These have occurred in AZ or nearby: albifacies, atrox, dimidiatus, giganteus, magnus, minusculus, nigrialbus, sackeni, and truquii. The description of truquii seems to match this specimen - also truquii has been collected from the Huachuca Mountains in AZ and other locations in Mexico. Maybe someone else can help eliminate the other possibilities.

Thanks Steve -
maybe someone will get it to species, but I am glad to know the genus and about the diversity of Promachus in AZ.
