Eggs of one of the lacewings? ...in December??
This egg cluster was found on the upper surface of a Southern Magnolia leaf. It is approx. 20mm across- individual eggs are less than .5mm wide.

Will these eggs overwinter? They were found in close proximity to a spider egg sac. I'm thinking of keeping them in a container on the porch were they will receive normal outdoor temps.

I wonder how they manage to survive freezing temperatures. I think that I will keep them in a container with the egg sac and see what happens. The leaf is already off of the tree- that is how I discovered it. I had cut a few magnolia branches for Christmas decor the other day.
