Explanation of Names
Specific epithet from Latin atrum+dentatus meaning "dark-toothed" for "the central oblique band [with] two teeth on its outside, one on the upper side of the cell, the other on the lower, which are dark brown or black, especially the lower one." (1)

Identification
Range
Records from Manitoba south to Oklahoma and eastward. Also California. (3)
Food
Larval hosts are oaks including Quercus alba, Quercus coccinea, Quercus rubra and Quercus macrocarpa. (4)
