Jewel Beetle? - Hippomelas sphenicus
San Pedro River Valley, SE of San Manuel, Pinal County, Arizona, USA

Size: approx 25 mm
I see these frequently on Mesquite trees. I'd always assumed they are Gyascutus caelata, but now I'm not so sure - these seem to have a smooth pronotum. Thank you for your help - as always!

Definately in the Gyascutus-Hippomelas area. Years of collecting in AZ, and I still wasnt all that compfy putting names on them :).
