Why not a Polistes instabilis
Why not a Polistes instabilis?

 
I generally don't attempt a species ID for Polistes...
...except for P. dominula. I just find them too tricky.

If forced to guess on this one, I'd say it looks more like P. carolina or rubiginosus. None of the P. instabilis specimens in the Guide is so uniformly red.

But again, what do I know? :)
