This insect was about 5 mm in length and had survived despite several nights of heavy frost. The first and fourth segments of this specimen where off-white in color. ID's appreciated.

Moved from Cockroaches. The white segments on the distal and proximal antennae and the pattern of white on the otherwise black thorax and abdomen are typical of early instar Smoky Brown Cockroaches. Apparently the closely related Brown Cockroaches (not yet represented in BugGuide) have a very similar 1st instar nymph, but slightly more brown in color, with loss of the pattern in subsequent molts.

Cockroach nymph
This is a cockroach nymph, perhaps a Parcoblatta sp?
