Fallceon
Looks like Fallceon to me, too. Most likely F. quilleri. However, there are now several species of Fallceon known from CA with no reliable way to separate the nymphs. Mark, you may find the links on my user profile of some use. In particular, check out the links to the SAFIT STE as it provides guidance to aquatic invertebrates in CA and surrounding states with more up-to-date literature references.

Fallceon
Hi Brady - I'm aware that there are several spp. of Fallceon recorded in California, namely F. eatoni,F. quilleri, F. sonora and F. thermophilos. F. eatoni is not described as a nymph but may be synonymous with F. sonora (McCafferty et al, 2008). The nymph of F. sonora is smaller than F. quilleri with a distinctive dorsal abdominal pattern that doesn't match with F. quilleri. F. thermophilos is much closer in dorsal patterning and size (McCafferty et al, 2008)but the description doesn't seem to match the nymphs I've found. I'll stick to F. quilleri for now. I always enjoy your comments, they definitely keep me on my toes.
