Caterpillar Snoozing in a Locust Hammock - Epargyreus clarus Ohio River Islands NWR, West Virginia, USA August 26, 2004
Admittedly this isn't the best view of the caterpillar. He was resting so peacefully there was no thought of opening up his little cabana made of locust leaves. Would appreciate help with ID. Also, is this just a safe place to rest while not feeding, or is this the beginning of pupation?
