Moved from Valgus seticollis.

pygidial process in females, canaliculatis only?
Ratcliffe and Paulsen say that females of seticollis do not have the pygidial process (1)--that is part of how they key seticollis from canaliculatis.
These are confusing. I have looked at the tibial spines described as keying the two species in Harpootlian's key, and I am not sure I understand the difference.

I don't have an answer,
perhaps Dr. Lago can address your query?

thanks, inquiry sent
I sent Dr. Lago an e-mail referencing this image. Very interesting problem! Incidentally, Dr. Paulsen is here on BugGuide!
