Larval coloration
I believe that the plain whitish larva in this photo, and the larva with red stripes, shown here, represent the same species, Homaledra sabalella, the difference being that the plain larva is still in feeding stage, whereas the larva with red stripes is prepupal. Larvae of other spp. of gelechioids are known to develop red stripes upon becoming prepupal, e.g., Cosmopterigidae: Cosmopterix clandestinella (see here).

Did you collect
one of these Jeff? This larva is colored differently than the one I collected.

I just exposed it and photographed. There are plenty more, so I can easily collect one.

if we might have both species here. I added an image of mine.
