Hellgrammite or Fishfly larva? - Chauliodes pectinicornis

Hi, just curious what megaloptera this is. I found it along with two others under a damp log by a stream. I'm hoping its a hellgrammite, but my instincts tell me it's a fishfly larva. Let me know what ya think. Also is it possible to determine gender in larva? Thanks...oh and happy new year!

hydrophilid larva, i suspect
not a megalopteran; with very few, if any, exceptions, larvae cannot be sexed from external characters.
NB: state abbreviations are redundant (state added from another field) -- please refer to the filling instructions provided in the submission form and correct location data; only Toddville [not "stream , Toddville Ia."] belongs in the City field; habitat info belongs in the Remarks
