Skipper - Amblyscirtes celia
Dallas County, Texas, USA
June 15, 2002
I just ran across this old vacation photo from 2002, taken somewhere near Dallas. Is this some kind of roadside-skipper? I'm grateful for any help because I'm totally lost with southern skippers.

Once again, thanks for the exceptional effort. Now I don't feel so bad that I kept going back and forth between those two species, unable to make up my mind. It didn't help that the subject was well worn when the photo was taken.

Mr. Edwards, I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to send the image to an expert. That was extremely kind and thoughtful of you. I was quite surprised when I ran across those old photos because when I shot them 12 years ago, I'd never heard of skippers and had no interest in butterflies at all. They were just vacation photos. But now that I'm enamored with butterflies, I'm tickled pink that the photo was sufficient to get an ID. Please extend my thanks Mr. Bordelon for his help.
