Florida Psocid - Indiopsocus texanus

Florida Psocid - Indiopsocus texanus
Rotonda West, Charlotte County, Florida, USA
September 5, 2013
Size: 3.5 mm
Taken at UV light between Sept 3 to Sept 7 2013.

Will be sending to Diane.

Moved
Moved from Indiopsocus.

This is Indiopsocus texanus!
I separated the abdomen from the thorax and was able to get a good view in my dissecting microscope at 70X with lots of light from my Schott ACEI light. My ID is based on the following characters: 1) distal process of phallosome blunt tipped, 2) shorter pointed process on the same side of phallosome, 3) process on right side of phallosome not pointed, 4) median strap of hypndrium with a row of denticles on left side.

Awesome!
Thanks Diane.

Got the specimen..
I will have to perform a dissection and get a close look at the phallosome. I wanted to keep the specimen intact but I cannot distinguish between Indiopsocus ceterus and Indiopsocus texanus without dissection. I'll get a good night's sleep tonight and do a dissection in the morning.

Oooooooo
Please do send it and I can give you a positive ID. This one may belong to an un-described species but a little bird told me that someday it will have an official species name.

Moved tentatively, Diane will set me straight
