not aware of any changes in genus for this one
Strymon melinus
is the type species of the genus, so if
S. melinus
were moved into another genus, the genus
Strymon
would effectively be elliminated, and all the species would end up under different genera. We'd hear about such a proposed change pretty quickly I think. On the other hand, typos get made all the time (lots of "
Satyrium melinus
" on the internet - all mistakes). Also, other related species have been segrated into other genera on and off.
This species has been called "
Rusticus melinus
" (by mistake? that name is a synonym of
Plebejus
), and some authors have lumped most all Hairstreaks into
Thecla
(though not recently), but this species has mostly always been placed in
Strymon
since the day it was officially named in 1818.
Strymon
is
related to
Satyrium
, but quite distinct.

You mean very recently away from Strymon? Something I don't know about? This has been Strymon for as long as I can remember.
