Could this perhaps be Parasyr
Could this perhaps be Parasyrphus? I don't see the hairs on the upper surface of the lower calypter, which I think I can see in this picture, so that would rule out Syrphus. Not Eupeodes - the margin of the abdomen is interrupted black and yellow - and not Dasysyrphus because the eyes are bare. Doesn't look like Epistrophe either.

My other guess would be Melangyna, which "feels" more correct in some ways. But the markings are touching, which is inconsistent. That would be consistent with Meligramma, but the face seems too wide.

Parasyrphus seems a good match
using my highly unreliable visual method... I googled the three and there were a number of Parasyrphus photos that looked nearly identical, not so much for the other two. P. punctulatus looks like a good bet but I haven't found any geographic data so it may not occur here.
