I collected this beetle sweeping foilage with a net during Bugguide Gathering 2013.

This image is a CombineZP processed stack of 118 images with a 11.3 µm step taken with a Nikon CFI60 10×/0.25 ∞/0 mm microscope objective + Nikon 135mm F/2.8 AIS telephoto lens + Nikon D300 camera (magnification 6.75×; technique described here).

Genus determined by M. L. Gimmel. He replied, "That's Stilbus, something near S. apicalis. Looks like a male--if so, it should have a triangular projection at the middle of the third ventrite. You can try the key if you want, but it gets difficult around the Stilbus-group of genera!"
